Barley Boy

Barley

A few weeks ago, Jared and I, along with 13 other people and three dogs made our way down to The Outer Banks of North Carolina for a week-long vacation.  If you have never been before, add it to your bucket list immediately!

Since we didn’t bring our dog, I was in desperate need of a canine companion for the week.  Enter Barley (Bar Bar/Barley Boy).  Barley is a miniature golden doodle – half golden retriever, half toy poodle.  His purpose in life is to fetch… constantly.  He will great you with whatever is closest to him at that moment  - a sock, shoe, pen, rock – and drop it at your feet for you to throw.  Usually I don’t oblige because once you open the flood gates, there is no turning back.  You are officially his thrower.  But I figured hey, it’s vacation, I might as well let Barley live it up too!

On one of the chillier days, with tennis ball in hand, I headed for a nice long walk on the beach with my Barley boy.

An hour of constant fetching later, success was mine!  Barley was tired out - an incredibly rare occurrence (just ask his parents!).  Lucky for him, Jared met us on the way back and carried him off and on for the walk back to the house.  What house you ask?

Yup. That one.

  1. very nice Debbie! I am hoping to get a pretty DSLR as a wedding gift from my fiance and really want to get into photography once I do…perhaps I will have to ask you for tips when the time comes.

    • Hey Sarah! Thank you for the kind words. I’ve had my DSLR (Nikon D60) for a year and a half now (thanks mom!) and I love it! I’m just touching the surface of it’s capabilities and I still have a lot to learn but that is half the fun. Congrats on the upcoming wedding and my fingers will be crossed for you getting the camera!!!
